The water was quite murkey with lots of loose floating brown globs (maybe alge) and smelled bad.
It's a very fun place to spend an afternoon. There's a small cliff with multiple places to jump off of it into the ~8ft deep water. There's also a waterfall that was really fun to climb up just to jump back down on it. I wish there was more activities to do there but just to spend an afternoon there, it was really fun.
I hope this review is helpful for anyone looking to spend a nice, relaxing weekend in their RV. I would not visit this park again, even if it was free.
- There is no one on-site to manage the tenants or the grounds, so people have their make-shift yards on the sides of their RVs that have no boundaries whatsoever. One of our "neighbors" fence literally was half way into our RV spot.
Made the reservation with the City of Crawford after reading the reviews posted. The previous reviews are NOT truthful whatsoever, please please BEWARE! As you drive in after inputting the gate pin code, you suddenly become aware this RV park is not properly described as per the reviews posted. This is a transient park for the homeless displaced within the City of Crawford. It is pick your own site which is crap, no clear markings, drastic grading issues for our rig to be level and the Tonkawa Falls RV Park scene appears to be torn from a script page from the movie "Shining" BUT IN REAL LIFE! Only one bathroom stall for each gender to share and not even properly kept. I left the Tonkawa Falls RV park within three hours after arriving to a nearby park after properly vetting that RV park appropriately. Beware of Tonkawa Falls RV Park not good nor any reviews prior to this review accurate. Tonkawa Falls RV Park is SHADY.
- Many of these so-called sites do not even have working power or sewer.
- Every single person had yapping dogs that barked all hours of the day and night. People even leave their dogs outside while the owners are nowhere to be found.
- There is absolutely NO water in the falls.
- RV spots are basically just all randomly placed around the park. There is no easy way to pull in or out, and they are literally on top of each other.
I would honestly give this park 0 stars if I could. I am not huge on writing reviews, especially when I don't have anything nice to say, but I really wish someone would have written an honest review about this park before I visited last weekend. I think the best way for me to help any future RV'ers is to include the below list of what was wrong with the park:
Low water was to be expected this time of year. The clear pollution and garbage in and around the water was not. The grounds clearly haven't been picked up in quite some time. Such a disappointment for my family and me, especially considering just a few weeks ago when we came to scout the location prior to family coming to town, they were charging for admission to the falls. Promptly left to find another way to spend a hot texas day. Shame some of the visitors are also to blame as this level of dirty doesn't just show up. It takes a high level of disregard for that to accumulate.
